    Croatia

    Updated: Dec 31, 2024

The two cities I visited in Croatia were Split and Krka National Park. I booked my trip through SmartTrip, which is a travel group for students based in Italy that includes transportation, housing, and activities. I believe I paid around 220 euro for the entire trip. Here are some of the things I did:

    Hostel:

    • The hostel we stayed in was called 101 Dalmatians, it was unfortunately not the best experience ever. There seemed to be only 1 person working there with like 30 of us staying. One of the bunk beds broke, no one on our floor had toilet paper, and the bathrooms were dirty with exposed pipe. The breakfast served was interesting to say the least and the location wasn’t exactly in the center either.

    Itinerary:

    • Ziplining through the mountains

    • A bar crawl in the old town

    • Party boat to the Blue Lagoon (the water is super cold and salty!)

    • Diocletian’s Palace

    • Market vendors along the beach

    • Kebabs (perfect after a night out)

    • Krka National Park

      • It had the most beautiful waterfalls and hiking trails, and there were a bunch of cute little cats! Be careful where the waterfalls are, though, because I very theatrically slipped down some stairs in front of my friends…

My favorite memories from this trip were definitely the ziplining and party boat activities! This was also my first time in a country where I was 100% unfamiliar with the language, so it was interesting to read and hear it for the first time. If you're looking to go to Croatia, I would probably recommend visiting the capital, Zagreb, as there are more hostels and touristic activities available.
